Systemic Therapy centres around the principle that individuals do not operate on their own, but rather as part of a bigger system of alliances, relationships and social influences. It’s an effective way to support you as you deal with, and change behaviours that stop you from thriving in the world at large. It also takes into account that the world at large has significant impact on you.
Your Systemic Therapist will guide you towards developing the resources you need to deal with distressing and stressful situations, such as caring for your own, or a significant other’s health issues. It focuses on how to work with people effectively and how to problem solve during emotional crises that befall you or others close to you.
Systemic Therapy is an excellent mode of therapy in a group or family context. It will help each member of the group identify their role in the group dynamic, as well as to understand and support each other effectively. Systemic Therapy differs from Family Therapy in that it also takes into account outside systems, such as community, society and culture.
