Dr Inmaculada Adarves‑Yorno

Dr Inma brings a unique integration of rigorous psychological science and shamanic practice to her work—supporting individuals in building resilience, managing stress, and reconnecting with their inner clarity. Over the course of nearly 30 years, she has explored what helps people become their best selves, blending insights from psychology, neuroscience, and deep intuitive wisdom.
She has specialised in identity, resilience, and stress management. As a Senior Lecturer at the University of Exeter, her academic work explored how identity shapes well-being and how psychological processes support transformation—helping individuals and communities move beyond limiting patterns and beliefs.

In her TEDx talk, “Using Mindfulness to Move Forward”, Dr Inma explores how mindfulness can catalyse a shift from automatic behaviour to a more conscious, values-driven way of being. When working with people affected by trauma or/and chronic stress, she found that traditional meditation was not always accessible—and so she developed “Mindfulness on the Go”: simple, powerful techniques to support regulation and self-awareness in daily life.
As a scientist, she researches both the resources that strengthen resilience, and the barriers that hold it back. Her upcoming book, Resilient Together: A Practical Guide, offers concrete tools for building resilience in ourselves and communities. This is freely available to her clients.
In addition, since 2015 Dr Inma has trained in shamanic practices with Northern Drum, a respected UK-based centre rooted in authentic and earth-based wisdom traditions. Her training combines teachings from Native North and South American lineages with practical tools for personal clarity, empowerment, and spiritual resilience.
